The Department of Bengali was established in 1985 to facilitate the Bengalee students in Bengali language and literature which is one of the prescribed languages by North Eastern Hill University, Meghalaya. Smt. Bandana Roy was the first faculty with whom the department started functioning. After her, Mr. Subhendu Sahiri was in charge of the department. At present Dr. Debasakti Dutta is the Head of the Department.
