Welcome to the website of Women’s College. Ours is a linguistic minority institution managed by the Education India Trust. Right from its inception in 1984, the college has been guided by the motto, “Abirabirma Edhi” which means, “Radiance Unto All”.
The aim of the college has been to impart quality education to young women of the North-Eastern region of the country. Our well-placed alumni in India and abroad attest to the role we play in empowering our students with the values and skills to realise their full potential as responsible members of the society.
Helped by its locale in the beautiful town of Shillong, the College attracts students not just from Meghalaya and its adjoining regions, but also from neighbouring countries. This diversity not only enriches our worldview and promotes empathy and tolerance, it also engenders a fertile ground for cross-pollination of ideas. In other words, a conducive atmosphere for academics, which is buttressed by our cadre of talented and accomplished faculty. At present, we offer courses in Humanities and the Social Sciences. A degree programme in Social Work has been introduced since 2008. More such programmes are on the anvil.
In the spirit of holistic education, our students are encouraged to take part in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The laurels that they have brought to the college are a testament to their enthusiasm with which they participate in these activities. To imbue them with necessary employment-oriented skills, we regularly conduct seminars and workshops.
The infrastructure of the college has been augmented, thanks to the infusion of grants from state as well as central bodies. We are the first adhoc grant-in-aid college to have been accredited by NAAC and have gone through three cycles of accreditation.
Should you consider joining us as a student, rest assured that Women’s College not only moulds minds but it also transforms lives.
