Department ofSocial Work
The Department of Social Work was established in the year 2008. The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) course is a professional course and it is affiliated to the North Eastern Hills University (NEHU), Shillong. The department had a humble beginning with two teachers Mrs Margrisha Lyngdoh Sawkmie and Mrs Parkordor Kharkongor.
The department over the years has organised the following events:
- Outreach Programs in the form of Health Camps, Awareness Programmes, Sport Competitions, Role plays, Mime shows, Flash Mob etc.
- Observation of Important Days like International World AIDS day, International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Anti Child Labour Day etc.
- Observation of Birth / Death Anniversary of Important Eminent Personalities.
- Panel Discussions
- Rural Camp, Study Tour, Orientation Visit as per the Prescribed Syllabus.
Certificate course for the BSW students:
- Leadership Qualities and Confidence Building in collaboration with Polaris Enterprise, Shillong.
- Basic Computer Literacy Class.
- National Seminar on 'Child Advocacy: A Collective Call to Action' in October 25th – 26th, 2013.
