Women's College student, Ms. Ridamaya Passah, was crowned Mega Miss India - Top Model of the Universe, securing India's spot at the Top Model of the Universe pageant in Turkey. We congratulate her and wish her the very best!

International Women's Day

Women's College, Shillong celebrated International Women's Day with great enthusiasm on the 8th of March, 2024. The college had the distinct privilege of hosting the esteemed Padmashree awardee, Madam Silbi Passah, as the guest of honor for the occasion.

Annual Students' Seminar Competition

On February 26, 2024, the Dramatics Society of Women's College, Shillong, participated and secured the second runner-up position in the Reserve Bank of India's Skit Competition. This competition, held at Vivanta's Crystal Hall was organized to celebrate Financial Literacy Week.

Furthermore, Miss Bonani Bonya Saikia, a student of our esteemed institution, emerged victorious in the Drawing Competition held in conjunction with the aforementioned event.

On February 24th , 2024, Women's College, Shillong, organized its prestigious Annual Students' Seminar Competition, which forms the cornerstone of the best practices followed by the college.

Climate Action Literacy Workshop

Women's College, Shillong actively participated in a three-day Climate Action Literacy Workshop from the 15th-17th of January, 2024. The workshop was organized by Nature's Orbit in collaboration with NEHHDC and was held at Vishwa Yuvak Kendra International Youth Centre, New Delhi.

Sanskrit Learning Workshop

Women’s College organized a 15 day ‘Sanskrit Learning’ workshop which started from the 12th of September, 2023 in collaboration with Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi, and Sanskrit Bharati, Northeast. The resource person for the workshop was Raj Kumar Bordoloi from the Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi.

14th Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar Endowment Lecture

Women’s College successfully organized the 14th edition of Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar Endowment Lecture on the 26th of September, 2023. The lecture was delivered by eminent academician, Professor Pradip Kumar Datta, Former HOD, Department of Political Science, Delhi University and Chairperson, Centre for Comparative Politics and Political Theory, SIS, JNU. The topic of his lecture was “The Visva-Samaj of Rabindranath Tagore’s Visva Bharati”. The lecture was presided by Shri Debashish Chowdhury, Trustee of Education India and OSD, CDC, NEHU.

Japanese Language Course

In the month of September Women’s College in collaboration with The Japan Foundation, New Delhi started an online course on Japanese language. The institution has also recently formalised an MoU with The Japan Foundation.

162nd Birth Anniversary Celebration of Rabindranath Tagore

The college celebrated the 162nd Birth Anniversary of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore on the 9th of May, 2023.

Two-Day Acting Workshop

Women’s College organized a “Two-Day Acting Workshop” on the 14th and 15th of July, 2023. Veteran Bollywood actor and renowned theatre personality, Shri Abhijit Lahiri was the resource person. The workshop garnered the attention of students and theatre enthusiasts from all over the region.

A Summer School on "Contemporary Political Theory and Politics in India"

A Summer School on "Contemporary Political Theory and Politics in India" was organized by the Department of Political Science from 17th April-27th April, 2023. The Summer School was led by academics from University of Delhi which included Prof. Ashok Acharya, faculty, Dept. of Political Science, University of Delhi, Dr. Sohini Guha, former faculty, Dept. of Political Science, University of Delhi and Dr. Rajesh Dev, Associate Professor, Dept. of Political Science, University of Delhi as resource persons for the programme.

Har Ghar Dhyan

A programme focusing on the mental well-being of teachers and students was organized in the college auditorium on the 8th of May, 2023. The programme was part of the initiative called “Har Ghar Dhyan” which is under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav which aimed to educate the students of the college about mental health and empower them with the tool of meditation for better health. The resource person for this programme was Dr. Alpana Chakraborty, former head of Department of Philosophy, St. Anthony’s College, Shillong.

Meri Maati Mera Desh

Women’s College celebrated India’s 77th Independence Day along with the campaign “Meri Maati Mera Desh” which envisaged as a culminating event of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”.

Annual College Week, “Aikyam”

The annual College Week, “Aikyam” was celebrated from the 9th of October till the 14th of October, 2023. As part of the celebration various activities were organized to reflect the spirit of the theme “Aikyam” which means oneness.
